Frequently Asked Questions
What is Veraia Life?
01What is Veraia Life?
Veraia Life is a personal AI health assistant that helps individuals, carers, and families organise, store, and understand their health information in one place. You can upload documents, log symptoms, track medications, and scan prescriptions — and the app uses an AI layer to surface observations and patterns in your data over time. Veraia is not a medical device and does not diagnose conditions. It is a digital organisation and information tool built for the reality of managing health across a lifetime.
02What does Veraia stand for?
Veraia is derived from two words: "veritas" (Latin for truth) and "gaia" (Greek for earth or life). Together, Veraia means "truth of life" — a reflection of the clarity and honesty the platform aims to bring to the way people manage and understand their health information.
03Is Veraia an app?
Yes. Veraia is a mobile and digital health assistant app. It will be available in iOS first shortly followed by Android. It is available for individuals, at-home carers, and families who want a single organised space for their health records, documents, daily logs, and AI-generated observations. The app is currently in pre-launch with a waitlist open for early access.
04What problem does Veraia solve?
Veraia solves the problem of fragmented health information. Most people manage their health across multiple systems — GP letters in one place, test results in an email inbox, medication lists in their head, appointment notes on scraps of paper. This fragmentation creates gaps, increases stress, and makes it harder to communicate effectively with healthcare providers. Veraia brings everything into a single organised timeline so that the right information is always accessible, at the right moment.
Who is Veraia Life for?
01Who is Veraia designed for?
Veraia is designed for three primary groups. First, individuals managing their own ongoing health — whether that means tracking a chronic condition, keeping records across multiple specialists, or simply wanting their health history organised and accessible. Second, at-home carers looking after a family member — a parent, a partner, or a child with complex needs — who need a structured system for managing someone else's health information alongside their own. Third, families who want to maintain health records for multiple people in one account. Veraia is built for anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by the admin of health.
02Is Veraia suitable for carers?
Yes. Veraia has a dedicated carer mode that allows you to set up and manage separate health profiles for the person in your care, alongside your own. You can log daily vitals — blood pressure, blood sugar, fever, mood — track wound and skin conditions with a photo log, scan documents and prescriptions, and manage medications separately for each profile. Veraia was specifically designed with at-home carers in mind, recognising that caring for someone else creates a distinct and often invisible administrative burden.
03Can I use Veraia to manage my family records?
Yes. Veraia supports multiple profiles within a single account, so you can create and manage separate health records for different family members — children, elderly parents, or anyone in your care. Each profile is self-contained and stores its own documents, medications, conditions, and daily logs independently.
04Is Veraia suitable for people managing chronic conditions?
Yes. Veraia is particularly well suited to people managing ongoing or chronic health conditions, where there is a long history of test results, medications, specialist letters, and appointment notes to keep track of. The app's AI observation layer is designed to notice patterns across your data over time — for example, flagging a consistent trend in blood test results — giving you useful context to bring to your next appointment. Veraia does not interpret or diagnose; it organises and observes.
05Is Veraia available in the UK?
Yes. Veraia is launching in the UK and Bulgaria as its first markets. The app is built with UK users in mind, including the realities of navigating both NHS and private healthcare, managing health records across different systems, and communicating with GPs and specialists. The waitlist is open now for early UK access.
06Is Veraia available in Europe?
Yes. Veraia is launching across the UK and EU, starting with Bulgaria and Malta. All data hosted on EU-based AWS servers in Frankfurt and Ireland. The app is available in English and Bulgarian, with further language support planned. European users benefit from full GDPR compliance and data sovereignty.
What does Veraia Life do?
01What can I store in Veraia?
You can store a wide range of health information in Veraia, including blood test results, scan reports, GP letters, specialist referral letters, hospital discharge summaries, vaccination records, prescription history, and medication lists. You can also log daily symptoms, mood, blood pressure, blood sugar, and body temperature. Documents can be added by scanning them with your phone camera or entering information manually.
02How does prescription scanning work in Veraia?
You photograph a prescription directly in the app using your phone camera. Veraia stores it in your medication history and automatically cross-checks the new prescription against your logged allergies, existing conditions, and current medications. If there is a known interaction or contraindication, the app flags this as an observation for your awareness. This is not a clinical check — it is an information tool designed to help you ask the right questions before starting a new medication.
03What is emergency mode?
Emergency Mode is a feature that displays a clear, immediately readable summary of the most critical health information for a person — current medications, known allergies, diagnosed conditions, and emergency contacts — with a single tap. It is designed for moments when you or someone else needs to communicate health information quickly and clearly to a paramedic, GP, or A&E nurse. It works for your own profile or any profile you manage as a carer.
04Can Veraia track symptoms over time?
Yes. Veraia includes a daily log where you can record symptoms, general wellbeing, mood, and specific health measurements. Each entry is timestamped and stored chronologically, building a health diary over time. The AI layer can surface observations from this data when you prompt it — for example, noting that a particular symptom has been logged more frequently over a given period. This gives you an accurate, date-stamped account to share with a healthcare professional rather than relying on memory.
05Does Veraia track blood pressure and other virals?
Yes. You can log blood pressure readings, blood glucose levels, body temperature, and general mood within the daily log. For at-home carers managing a bed-ridden patient, Veraia includes a dedicated daily log specifically designed for recording and tracking these vitals consistently, building a record that can be shared with district nurses, GPs, or hospital doctors.
06Can I track bed wounds, bed sores or skin conditions with Veraia?
Yes. Veraia includes a wound and skin condition photo log, designed specifically for at-home carers managing patients who are bed-ridden or have limited mobility. You can photograph wounds, pressure sores, rashes, or skin changes directly in the app. Each image is automatically timestamped. You can add notes to each photograph — the location on the body, any observed changes, and any treatment applied. This creates a sequential visual record that can be shared with a district nurse, GP, or wound care specialist, providing far more useful context than a verbal description alone.
07Can I track my menstrual cycle with Veraia?
Yes. Veraia includes period and cycle tracking as part of its daily log. You can record cycle start and end dates, flow intensity, and associated symptoms such as cramps, headaches, fatigue, or mood changes. Because this data lives alongside your other health records in the same app, the AI observation layer can identify patterns that span across health areas — for example, linking certain symptoms to particular points in your cycle — if you prompt it to review your data.
08Is Veraia in different languages?
Yes. Veraia launches in English and Bulgarian, reflecting its UK and Bulgarian founding roots and the real-world need to manage healthcare across different languages and systems. Many people in Europe navigate healthcare in more than one language — Veraia is built for that reality. Further language support is planned for future releases.
Data, Privacy and Security
01Is my data safe with Veraia?
Yes. Veraia was built with health data privacy as a core design principle, not an afterthought. Your data is stored on AWS servers located in Frankfurt and Ireland — within the EU — and never transferred outside Europe. The AI layer analyses only anonymised data. Veraia does not sell your data, does not share it with third parties including insurance companies, and does not use it to train AI models.
02Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored on AWS (Amazon Web Services) servers located in Frankfurt, Germany and Dublin, Ireland. Both are within the European Union. This means your health data is subject to EU data protection law and never leaves European jurisdiction.
03Is Veraia GDPR compliant?
Yes. Veraia is designed and operated in full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Your health data is treated as sensitive personal data under GDPR, handled with the highest level of protection, and processed only for the purposes you consent to. You can find full details in Veraia's Privacy Policy and AI Ethics Policy.
04Does Veraia share data with insurance companies?
No. Veraia will never share your personal health data with insurance companies, employers, advertisers, or any other third party. Your health information belongs to you, and its use is governed entirely by your consent and Veraia's privacy policy.
05Which is the main AI layer used by Veraia?
Veraia uses Claude, developed by Anthropic, as its main AI layer. Anthropic was selected because of its strong ethics framework and its approach to handling sensitive data responsibly. Claude analyses only anonymised data and is used to surface observations and patterns in your health information — it does not make medical decisions, diagnose conditions, or generate clinical recommendations. Veraia may at times use supportive AI models to spread the load and optimise performance output.
06Can Veraia see my data?
Veraia processes your health data to provide the service — organising your records, powering the AI observation layer, and enabling features like prescription cross-checking. The AI layer operates on anonymised data. Veraia does not sell your data or share it with any third parties. You retain full ownership and control of your health information at all times.
What Veraia is not
01Is Veraia a medical device?
No. Veraia is not a medical device and is not regulated as one. It is a personal digital health assistant — an organisational and information tool that helps you manage, store, and understand your health information. Veraia does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, or make clinical recommendations. Any observations surfaced by the AI are informational only and should not be used as the basis for any medical decision. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical advice.
02Can Veraia diagnose me?
No. Veraia cannot and does not diagnose conditions. The AI layer in Veraia surfaces observations — patterns it notices in the data you have entered — but it never attributes a cause, assigns a diagnosis, or tells you what a pattern means medically. Observations are designed to help you notice things that might be worth raising with your GP or specialist. Diagnosis remains entirely within the domain of qualified healthcare professionals.
03Is Veraia a replacement for my GP or specialist?
No. Veraia is not a substitute for your GP, consultant, specialist, pharmacist, or any other healthcare professional. It is a tool that helps you prepare for those interactions — by keeping your records organised, surfacing relevant patterns, and ensuring you walk into an appointment with the right information to hand. The goal is to make your conversations with healthcare professionals more useful, not to replace them.
04Can I use Veraia in an emergency?
Veraia's Emergency Mode is designed to help in urgent situations by displaying a clear summary of your critical health information — medications, allergies, conditions, and emergency contacts — instantly accessible to first responders or medical staff. However, Veraia is not an emergency service and should never be used instead of calling 999 or attending A&E. In any medical emergency, always contact the emergency services immediately.
05Is Veraia regulated as a health app in the UK?
Veraia is a digital health information and organisation tool. It is not classified as a medical device under UK or EU medical device regulations (UK MDR 2002 or EU MDR 2017), as it does not perform any diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical function. It is a software tool for personal health record management and information organisation. Users should always seek qualified medical advice for any health concerns.
